DE KLAP:
Wanneer een jongeman naar de oorlog vertrekt, wordt hij genadeloos bij zijn geliefde weggerukt. Het pijnlijke gemis en de mensonte-rende gruwel aan het front vreten ook aan hun liefdevolle relatie. Een verwoestende klap maakt alles onwezenlijk. Ook na de terugkeer uit het slagveld blijft het oorlogsbeest loeihard op hun alledaagse leven inbeuken. Geleidelijk aan be-seffen ze dat voor hen de oorlog nooit zal ein-digen. In deze strijd is onvoorwaardelijke liefde het enige doeltreffende wapen. Vraag is of die sterk genoeg kan zijn om dit te overleven.

MIGUEL BOUTTRY (1979) is professionele gids bij Rent a Guide, zijn organisatie waarmee hij gasten langs de slagvelden van de Eerste Wereldoorlog loodst. Schrijven en vertellen maken bijgevolg onomwonden deel uit van zijn job. De niet ophoudende confrontatie met de tragiek van een wereldoorlog inspireerden hem tot het schrijven van dit tijdloos maar tragisch liefdesverhaal.

MAXIM FOULON, French artist born in 1987. Expressiveness, figuralism, "unfinished" and conceptual, the images that he creates are always meaningful vehicles of ideas. Man, at the heart of the subject, are laid bare.

GUEULES CASSEES-BROKEN FACES
These faces disfigured by violence which we hid not to shock are here aestheticised by symbolising lines.
Double reading of armed conflicts; the honors of conquest and power against the reality of the body of flesh and blood of sacrificed lives.
The blue liquid, symbolizing water and life coming out from the wound.
Man moulded by the violence of war, losing true his wound not just shreds of flesh, but his entire identity.
